Matching campaign generates A$120,000 in less than two weeks!

COVID-19 is having a devastating impact around the world, affecting all of us.

At The Life You Can Save, the most pressing aspect is, of course, the needs of the beneficiaries that we exist to help; we believe that the already-poor will be among the hardest hit by this crisis and that even more funds will now be needed to save and improve lives.

At the same time, the ability of many charities to raise funds has been impaired by the current crisis. The first example of this issue for The Life You Can Save itself has been the postponement of our founder Peter Singer’s planned 2020 Australia and New Zealand tour to 2021. The tour was set to be one of our major fundraisers this year.

To mitigate the impact of potentially lost funds in a year when even more support will be needed, we recently held a donor match campaign in Australia. Thanks to our supporters Time Doctor and Amy & Matt Doran, a pool of A$60,000 was created to match our supporters’ donations dollar-for-dollar on our Australian website.

In these times of uncertainty, it was humbling to see so many Australians take up on the donation match opportunity and give generously to our recommended charities and to The Life You Can Save: A$60,000 in one-time and monthly gifts was donated in less than two weeks, exceeding our expectations by a wide margin!

A sincere thank you to everyone who donated, and our gratitude goes out as well to and to Amy & Matt Doran for matching donations.
