Help send cash to all 120 families in a village in Kilifi County, Kenya
The Life You Can Save is partnering with GiveDirectly to deliver your donations directly to all 120 families in a village in southern Kenya. Each family will receive ~$850 USD through GiveDirectly’s large lump sum cash program, empowering them to address their most pressing needs and invest in their futures.
After receiving cash from the GiveDirectly match campaign, families in poverty are able to improve their own lives and meet their unique needs: building a new house, starting a new business, paying school fees, and more.
Your donation will have a lasting impact for Kenyan families in need
Research has shown that your donation will help save lives and boost the local economy:
- A new study found that giving families in Kenya a $1,000 GiveDirectly cash transfer immediately cut infant deaths by 48%.
- In rural Kenya, a study showed that a GiveDirectly cash transfer generated 2.5x its value in the local economy without causing inflation.

In 2024, The Life You Can Save donors reached 144 families in Kimiyumbu, Rwanda
Last December, our community sent life-changing support to people like Beatrice, 27, in Kimiyumbu:
“Before I received the transfer, life was really difficult,” said Beatrice. “I had no land to farm on, and I was making less than a dollar a day working on other people’s farms, which wasn’t enough to take care of my children. To afford their school uniforms, I had to work on their teachers’ farms.”
Beatrice used her transfer to pay off debts, buy a plot of land, and buy a goat, food, and clothes. She also started building a new house on her new land.
“Whatever money is left, I want to use it to start a small business selling vegetables and other essentials. I can already see my life changing with this business, and having livestock gives me a form of savings that I can rely on in case of emergencies.”
Thank you for your support and trust of people in poverty.
