OUR EVOLVING RECOMMENDATIONS
- At The Life You Can Save, our goal is to help you identify the highest-impact giving opportunities focused on lifting people out of extreme poverty. We continually research and evaluate nonprofits to ensure that our recommendations score highly according to our evaluation criteria and provide donors with a high level of confidence that their gifts will achieve the intended outcomes for beneficiaries.
- As a result of this ongoing evaluation, our list of ‘best charities‘ may change from time to time as we identify and prioritize new giving opportunities that we believe are more pressing or score higher according to our criteria. This does not mean we no longer believe past recommendations are strong giving opportunities, but rather that our prioritization methodology is leading us to focus on others. We prioritize opportunities where we can access greater amounts of data and evidence to inform our evaluations.
- Some organizations we’ve previously recommended run a wide range of programs or work across diverse contexts. While this breadth can be a strength, it also poses challenges for our evaluations. The complexity and variability of their work often make it hard to isolate specific impacts or gather the consistent, high-quality data we rely on. As a result, we may be unable to assess these organizations with the same level of rigor or confidence as those focused on more targeted, evidence-rich interventions. We may still consider grants to specific programs within these organizations if they present an outstanding opportunity for impact.
- On this page, you’ll find our alumni cohort. We remain deeply grateful for the work of these organizations and for all we have achieved together. We are happy to continue receiving and processing donations for these organizations if they align with your personal giving goals.
